Cryogenic Grade Expanded Perlite

TurkPerlite supplies low-density expanded perlite for the thermal insulation of cryogenic and low-temperature storage systems. It is used in the annular spaces of double-walled LNG tanks, industrial gas vessels, cold boxes, air-separation units and other equipment designed to limit heat transfer into stored liquefied gases.

Cryogenic perlite combines a lightweight cellular structure with low thermal conductivity, non-combustibility and inorganic stability. Depending on system design, it may be installed under atmospheric or evacuated conditions. Density, particle-size distribution, moisture control and filling method are important considerations for dependable insulation performance.

In large field-erected tanks, expanded perlite may be produced or conditioned near the installation site and pneumatically conveyed into the insulation space. Smaller vessels and cold boxes may use packaged material. Filling procedures should minimize moisture, segregation, excessive compaction and unfilled voids.

Key Benefits of Cryogenic Perlite

Expanded perlite is lightweight, non-combustible, easy to place and suitable for filling complex insulation spaces. Correctly selected and installed material provides stable thermal insulation without organic binders.

Low Heat Transfer

The cellular structure limits heat ingress into cryogenic storage systems.

Low Bulk Density

Lightweight insulation fills large annular spaces without excessive added load.

Atmospheric or Vacuum

Grades can be evaluated for non-evacuated and evacuated system designs.

Non-Combustible

Expanded perlite is an inorganic mineral insulation material.

Controlled Properties

Density, particle size and moisture are key product-selection parameters.

Project Supply

Packaging and logistics can be planned for vessel and tank insulation projects.

Main Cryogenic Applications

Applications include LNG storage tanks, oxygen, nitrogen and argon vessels, hydrogen and helium storage systems, air-separation cold boxes, cryogenic shipping equipment and selected low-temperature pipes and process vessels.

Information Required for Product Selection

For technical and commercial evaluation, customers should provide the stored product, operating temperature, atmospheric or vacuum service, required bulk density, moisture limit, particle-size requirement, filling method, quantity, packaging and destination.
